Cooperations

As part of our cooperation agreement between the University of Rostock, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology, and Fraunhofer IGP, we have been working closely together in teaching and research for many years.

The Chair of Joining Technology is closely linked to the topics covered by the Chair of Manufacturing Technology in order to provide students with a comprehensive overview of all manufacturing processes.

Since 1998, university teaching has been closely integrated with industrial research. The continuous growth in research activities in ship and steel construction, mechanical engineering, and vehicle construction in the fields of joining technology and manufacturing technology, as well as a wide range of manufacturing technology research projects in automation technology, production organization, and measurement technology, students are offered interesting basic and application-oriented tasks as part of their studies and theses, which facilitate the transition from university to professional practice.

Many of our graduates have been able to take up interesting positions in industry or research and are still closely connected today through the Chairs of Manufacturing Technology and Joining Technology in an alumni network.
